I've had this string trimmer for several years and after about a year I started having various problems I never saw with other 2 cycle items. First it was a loss of power and failure to rev - check the exhaust screen for clogging - unscrew the screw clamp, slide out the screen then use carb cleaner and a nylon or brass brush to clean it off. I next had problems with starting and idle. I bought an OEM carb from ebay which didn't help much. I would carry the carb adjustment tool with me when I used the trimmer if I could get it started at all. Finally, the trimmer was nearly impossible to start. I thought the sparkplug was bad because it wouldn't even fire. I found that just sitting the air filter would be soaked with gas and without priming or choking it when cold, the trimmer would fire shortly on the first pull then take about 40 more pulls holding full throttle to get it to start. I had read about the vent and finally got this one. AMAZING! I had to prime and choke the trimmer like when new then it started right up. I had to do some minor carb adjustments to correct what I had done in the past but it now runs and idles like new.
