This set contains a good range of sizes and personally I like the fact that you get more of the connectors for smaller wires as I tend to use a lot of them. If anything I tend to go a size smaller as I find this makes the best connection. You do need a decent set of crimpers and know how to use them properly to get the beat results. I like to put a bit of heat shrink tubing over the joint as a 'belt and braces' approach. This is probably a bit OTT for quick low voltage repairs but does mean you don't get a red connector on the neutral wire as you can cover it with black tubing. . Compared to some similar connectors I have these seem a little more difficult to compress making a decent crimper even more important. However the finished joint is good and will resist the 'pull test' well. The price seems reasonable enough and the box is good enough for its purpose so 5 stars from me.

The metal insert is thick and strong enough to hold the wire securely when its crimped. It makes a good electrical connection that is going to last. The insulated outer sheath is flexible enough not to be degraded by the crimps. A good selection of butt connectors that cover a wide range of wire thicknesses. I'm very happy to use these. I need to extend some low voltage wiring in a shed. I can make the new cables up indoors and then join them up in moments in the shed.

I was offered this Butt connector set free of charge, for an honest review under the 'Vine' Program.A very good selection of Butt connectors with a higher proportion of the red ones (for 20/22 AWG wire) which best suits my needs for repairs and small projects. The connectors come in a nice plastic case which makes them easy to store with my other sets of Spade connectors etc.Pretty easy to get a good solid connection using the really cheap terminal crimpers which come with ‘handyman’ tool sets or are sold separately for around £5. I like to apply three crimps on the connector to secure the bare wires in the middle and the insulation at both ends. My test connection on 22 AWG wire (shown in the photo) is very strong and the multimeter indicated no resistance between wire ends.The metal inside the connectors looks quite silvery and not like the colour I would expect of brass; so I cut one open to examine further (see photo). The metal is not magnetic and when scraped there is a yellowy colour below the surface (not easy to see on the photo). I therefore think that the material used is probably an amalgam of brass and some other, non-ferrous metal. I guess it doesn’t really matter as the connection is good and provides no perceivable resistance.A couple of the red butt connectors had a piece of plastic ‘chaff’ lodged in the section which was easily removed but a bit inconvenient & not great to find.Overall, a very good set of connectors which, at the time of my review, were selling at a good price.
