I thought this would be fun for a kids bath or a homemade fountain. What I learned is that, unlike solar calculators, this has to be outdoors or in very bright light (not just normal). I guess because there's no small battery to store even a little bit of power and charge gradually.But in bright light, it does work great. It turns off if there's no water, so you don't have to worry about that. There's no switch. You just put it in the water.But if you wanted to use it inside, you'd definitely need a bright light to make it work.

We've really enjoyed this solar fountain! We knew it would make our spa more enjoyable at night with the addition of color, but we didn't realize it would also look great during the day too. We've received lots of positive compliments from friends and neighbors. Great buy!

This would do exactly what you need it to in a bird bath. I was hoping to use for a bit of fun in my pool, but it’s a little underpowered for that. It works though and that’s a positive for something this cost effective.
