If you're adding motor control to a project, but have some trepidation about leaving a motor in your circuit unchecked, this is a great solution. Adds overcurrent/stall protection by monitoring the current consumption. Adjustable thresholds let you set acceptable levels, and above/outside that range this device kicks in and disconnects power.

I got this for a future project that doesn’t involve using a motor, but for now,Tested it with a small, 400ma , 12v motor. I like that the board has green led on,under normal operation, and when current exceeds the threshold limit a red led lights up.The adjustment pots are only one turn , so it’s very hard to adjust them precisely, butI was able to adjust the current limit to about 1 amp, which the motor, I have , quicklyGoes up to , when I grab the shaft, and try and stall it.. with the sensitivity adjusted as fast as it canI found a slight delay, maybe up to 1/2 second, before it tripped. On board manualReset button worked fine, but in the automatic mode, sometimes it would not reset and I needed tohit the manual reset button to get it going again , or recycle the power.Overall, i found this to be ok protection circuit, but don’t except instant trip out, and the automatic resetTo be reliable.
