Of all the Disney-era Star Wars movies, I love the look and design aesthetics of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY the most. From the costumes to the vehicles, new creatures to set design. So getting this book was a no-brainer and besides the original artwork, it was also fascinating to read how the creators behind every design put their heart and soul into something they were very proud to work on. A must-have for SOLO stans and a good addition to any Sar Wars book collection.

Excellent book that really dives deep into the development process of this amazing movie. Reading through the book, you realize that a lot of care has been put into developing the lore around not only the established Star Wars movies but also connecting the dots and further bridging the Sequel Trilogy to Original Trilogy. Like the other books in the " Art of ... " series, the book is gorgeous, the paper used is nice and glossy, and the layout of the artwork and written content is well balanced. The con to this product is 100% on Amazon and their distrubution centers. I've had to return this book twice due to damage during shipping. The spine collapsed on the book I originally pre-ordered and the replacement was completely ripped up the spin and the dust cover destroyed. The packaging was less to be desired, with a delicate book thrown in a large box with some flimsy 'bubble' wrap. I'm now waiting for my third copy to arrive and hopefully it won't come back completely ruined. There's a spot in my bookcase next to "The Art of The Last Jedi" and its getting kind of lonely without it.

This is an excellent book, if a bit pricey in hardback. I didn't see any print quality problems in my copy, so it's not a universal problem. Maybe just an early print-run problem. The book is packed with design artwork for story ideas, costume, props, vehicles, sets, and creatures. Describing Han's female counterpart as "love interest" is a bit jarring and demeaning in the present day, but there it is right on the page. There's precious little about other characters, such as Lando; the content is almost entirely about Han and Chewie. The text is tiny, so you might need reading glasses for some of it. It is informative though, revealing much about how the movie developed from the Star Wars history, new ideas, and some frankly whacky random stuff that fell by the wayside. I got the impression they didn't actually have much of a backstory for Han, and were inventing stuff that might be entertaining. There is little comparison between concepts and the final on-screen designs, so in that sense it is all a bit detached from the finished movie. Overall though, it's a fascinating book to leaf through as the artwork is of the usual high standard you expect from a Star Wars production. It's not bad value at retail price, but my Amazon Warehouse copy was at a much lower price and looked new.
