Tiffen is one of the best and oldest brands for camera filters, and one I trust. This one lives up to those expections, and at a reasonable price.

I haven't taken a shot with it yet, so I couldn't rate it a "1" simply because I haven't seen the image results with it yet. Who knows, maybe I am over-reacting and it's supposed to look this way. I'm not really sure. The long-and-short of it all is, while it arrived on-time (they even tried to deliver on a Sunday---??! I didn't know that was even possible), upon inspection of the glass after opening the package (which was more than adequate as well), it seems to have this grainy "fog" to the texture of the glass when light passes through it. I've attached a picture for reference - I had to take this is a lower light setting so that the haze could be seen. I'm no expert on these things because I only just bought it for my Mamiya C3 for some b&w film study, but even the 25yr old yellow filter that I have didn't have that kind of haze to the quality of the glass. I am hesitant to shoot a roll of film through it because I am worried about either getting some "otherwise-incredible" shots, or in fact wasting a whole roll of film on 'test' frames just to see if it has any effect on the photo after processing, you know?I am tempted to ask for a replacement filter, just because my intuition tells me that it's not supposed to look that way; however I am also curious to see how it performs in an scenario with ample light e.g. daylight or strobing in the studio because I seriously don't feel like going through the rigamarole in having to ship it back.

well built. Love the mat black finish on the metal ring. it's easy to screw in and out. the deep yellow is fantastic for dramatic skies effect on B & W film . As a bonus you get a nice skin tones for portraiture.

J'ai eu beau chercher sur la boîte et dans le dépliant façon pub plié dans la boîte, même sur le filtre : pas d'indication du coefficient !Jaune profond, c'est en principe 2 à 2.5, mais bon, ça leur coûtait tant que ça de l'imprimer ? Je suis donc allé sur le site web du fabricant pour le trouver, ce coefficent, eh bien, j'ai constaté qu'il y avait les "deep yellow" 8, 12 et 15, mais rien pour ce qui concerne le coefficient de filtre.Le fabricant connaît-il quelque chose à la photo ?La prochaine fois que j'achèterai un filtre, j'éviterai cette marque...
