Very pleased with this, makes me feel safer when travelling on my own. Works a treat.Found it a bit easier when I removed the chain. Felt it got in the way a bit. But very pleased with this.

The listing makes this seem sophisticated and complex. First off, the one I received has no blue glowing parts, and the dimples at the top and bottom are solid and do not depress, they do not glow blue either.This is a simple device that functions well.To mount this, it has a slot and 3 screw holes.In the locked position place lock on the closed door with the mounting flap inserted between the door and frame. I placed a mark on top and bottom of the flap where the edge of the frame lined up.Now remove lock and open door, line up lock with the marks you made at the desired height. Mark a dot on the frame in the center of the slot. Either drill a pilot hole or just screw though the slot into the frame and tighten down firmly but not tight, it should still move if pushed firmly.Do not insert screws in the 3 holes yet. With lock in open position shut the door.close the lock, you should be able to adjust it to the perfect position. Unlock it, open the door and install the three screws in the holes and tighten all 4 screws down tight. All done.To unlock this: The dimples on top and bottom are actually just grips to allow you to pull the locking part of this away from the flap piece. The springs are pretty firm, when mounted unlocking is pretty easy. Place thumb in bottom dimple and finger in top dimple and pull forward center of door and then swing away from door.To lock: Shut door and swing movable piece toward door, it will snap into place.Sorry for the drawn-out instructions. It is simple to install and most people will not need instructions but someone might benefit from them. The lock really is elegant for a door lock, the finish is smooth and sleek and the 2 parts fit together precisely and operate smoothly. This is much easier and cheaper to install than a dead bolt and quite possibly more secure. A dead bolt can be unlocked from the outside while this cannot. Deadbolts are great but this lock might be able to provide an additional piece of mind. The cost for this high quality and fine workmanship lock really makes it a good value.
