This windscreen wiper arm puller arrived in a retail blister pack inside a plastic bag. It’s solid and robust enough for the job with a ball bearing set into the end of the drive screw to prevent damage to the tip of the wiper drive shaft.Unfortunately, it’s too small for my wipers. They have a plastic sleeve over the shaft that is about 20mm in diameter and the opening of this puller is only 16mm (see pictures). However, as a general purpose puller it’s really useful. The gear change lever on my classic motorbike is a really tight fit on the splined shaft (even with the clamp bolt removed) and I usually have to lever it off with a couple of screwdrivers and this risks scratching the gearbox casing. I used this to pull it off and it was effortless. I imagine it will also be useful for pulling pinions off electric motors, but I haven’t tried this yet.If you’re ordering this to remove windscreen wiper arms, check the diameter of the shaft is less than 16mm or you’ll be disappointed.Whilst this didn’t fit my wipers it is very useful to me as a general purpose puller and at £7.99 it doesn’t break the bank so it gets four stars.

This useful little puller is intended for removing tight windscreen wiper arms from their shafts, and it would also be suitable for some small bearings and pulleys. The fairly coarse-threaded screw is terminated in a captive ball, which reduces friction, and helps to locate it, preventing the screw walking, providing that the end of the shaft has a suitable depression. I am not sure what the loose nut is for. It could be used to lock the screw.I tried the puller on a Honda wiper arm that I was removing to paint. Unfortunately, there was not enough clearance behind the base of the arm to fit the puller in, but the arm was quite easy to loosen from the shallow taper by wobbling it carefully (they usually do come off in this way, but they can be tight). I'll try it on the Jeep when I get a chance, but as long as it fits, it should work. Quite cheap at £7.99
