Made in china. It seems well built, but I won't really know until it's mounted and being used?

I like the look and functionality of this scope, and it doesn’t add much weight. If your shooting fundamentals are there, you’ll have no problem at all shooting accurately with this scope. I’ve shot 100 rounds of 7.62x51 and ~300 rounds of .308 with this, and haven’t had a problem with it holding zero. As long as your mount is decent quality, it’ll hold true. Clear view with next to no darkness at all, nice and bright. Nice packaging as well! Some complain about the turrets not having an audible click. However, even without a loud click, they aren’t hard to adjust. I believe what’s more important is that you can feel the click, and with this scope, you can indeed feel each adjustment.

What is there not to like about Vortex. If something does go wrong. They make it right. Best business in the market.

I read a ton of reviews before buying the 6 x 18 with the illuminated dot reticle. A lot of reviewers claimed poor optical quality on high magnification and some said that the illuminated dot did not glow and was worthless. I finally decided that with free returns I would try it out and see for myself and glad I did. The optics are very good. i suspect that many negative reviews were actually due to the difficulty of eye alignment with the sight picture at the occular piece. This is a very common problem with lower end scopes but it can be overcome, it takes some effort by the shooter to learn how to find that narrow picture at those magnification levels. The sight picture emitted at the rear is VERY small and it takes careful eye positioning to find the image. A little bit off and you have shaded areas and blocked image all around the circle of the image because the eye is wandering off the axis of that small image. At lower powers the size of the image "cone" is much larger and you do not have to be quite so careful in eye placement. As for the lighted reticle I found it to be highly visible red dot. I did the reticle test in a room with very little light coming in, you could see ok but it was fairly dark....about like it would be well after sundown or as dawn approaches. The scope has a great finish and every thing that turns does so with a good solid feel. It has yet to prove itself on the firing line.
