It’s very tricky to keep level while installing but once installed it’s very solid and it performs flawlessly.

Vortex always makes good quality gear so no surprise that this level is great. I will say that the installation was a major pain. So much so that I almost gave up and switched my scope rings/mount to an option where the level installs to the mount or the top of a scope ring instead. I will 100% go that route in the future to relieve the stress of installation. There are also some tools out there that supposedly help install this type of level. I would buy one of those if you are set on this type of level. Again, quality is great like all Vortex gear. Installation can be brutal.

This is a good level and a nice balance between not too big and not too small. Vortex makes another one of these that is way too bulky. I don't like snag hazards on my rifles so this one seems the right size to me. I mounted this level on a Remington 700 chambered in 300 Win Mag with a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 30mm scope. The scope is mounted with an EGW picatinny rail and EGW medium height tactical rings. Yes, I did have to remove the scope and rings from the picatinny rail to install the scope. The level would slide between the scope and rail but it was too little gap to attempt so I just removed the scope. Adjusting and tightening was a challenge and takes patience to get it right. There is no prescribed torque spec so I went with 25in lbs since the scope rings are tightened to that. Using a torque wrench/driver will help with adjustment. Expect a gap to remain on the level after tightening. I do recommend this product but use common sense when installing.

**Update 08/16/2017: This bubble level is pretty freaking sweet. I'll be honest, I thought it was going to be a little too small and that it was going to be difficult to pick up. Anyway, fast forward to the range, and my worries were put to rest; it picks up light really well, even when you're in a shaded area. I took this sucker out to 800 yards (farthest distance at my local range), and I did a little testing. I tried shooting without using the bubble and only going off of vision, and voila... 2/5 shots on target. Put the bubble level into play, and increase that to 5/5 with almost no effort. Safe to say this level "saves you ammo," thus saving you money. I highly recommend it to any shooter who is in need of a decent, quality bubble level for their rig.I'll be one of the many people to say that this ring was a pain in the buttocks to install. Not to get it on the scope tube itself, but rather tighten it down and have it stay level; the top of the ring (the bubble) tends to shift as you tighten the screw. I'm assuming this is due to it being a single piece design and the screw is "pulling" the top half down. The ring itself is VERY thin and made of aluminum, so you do risk breaking it if you choose to remove it and place it on another scope. That being said, I see this being more of a "set it and forget it" level; once you install it, leave it. However, thanks to Vortex's VIP warranty, they should replace it without hesitation should it end up breaking.Installation:What I found worked well for me was rotating the ring so that the bubble is about 1/2 way over the first left line. Tighten down screw and watch the bubble shift towards the center; make slow adjustments, if needed, by slightly loosening the screw and rotating the ring just a tad, tighten down the ring, repeat until perfect.Tip: nowhere in the package did it state what to torque it down to, so I had to do a little digging on the web. It's recommended that you torque it down between 8-10 in/lb.The bubble, though small, is fairly easy to see just by opening your left eye, and vice versa if you're a left-handed shooter.I just got it today, I have not yet had a chance to put it to use, but once I take it out to the range, I will update this review.
