The device I ordered had a bit different specs than the one currently being sold, the price was also lower. The main difference was the USB ports. In the currently advertised version they are USB-A 3.0 to USB-A 3.0. The version I have (I'm assuming it's the earlier one) is USB-A 2.0 to USB-B 2.0.Not a massive issue but it does slow down transmission from my webcam. Other items such as mouse, keyboard and my headset work without any issues.I already have a separate device for extending screens and a separate USB switcher. This KVM switch is a space saver because it connects the two.I don't use 4K screens, just Full-HD ones, so I wasn't able to check if the device works in 4K 60Hz standard. It does work in lower resolution however.I like the big switch with a cable - it's quite useful. My current USB switcher has a remote, but both do a good job.I prefer the KVM switch to be powered - my version has a USB powered cable. Currently advertised version appears to have a proper power adapter, so it's another upgrade. It's important because with 2 screens powered and 4 USB devices, you are bound to get disconnections without additional supply at some point.Overall I like this switch. I'll be using it at my other work location and switch between my parent's computer and the work laptop. At the moment it's a hassle to keep moving the cables. I think my version cost £19 which is decent. The one currently advertised is £14 more but offers USB 3.0 ports and a proper power supply. A HDMI cable is not included in the set, just the 2 USB cables to connect the switch to both machines. I'm happy to recommend both switches really.Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

KVMs allow you to use one keyboard, monitor and mouse with two (as here) or more computers. They're really useful if you have a server or something like a Raspberry Pi as well as your day to day PC. I've had several, starting with one from Belkin in the days when monitors wanted VGA signals, moving on to a couple for HDMI displays. The problem with all three was never that they didn't work, but that they didn't *stay* working when you left at least one of the two computers on all the time. Getting their power from the USB connections to the two computers presumably didn't help, but after a couple of weeks, they'd stop switching until everything was turned off.. which is what you don't want to do with a server any more than you absolutely have to.This one can get 5V from a USB charger via a supplied cable. Although it will also work without, it's proved solid using this method and a spare USB charger is not exactly uncommon or difficult to find - it doesn't need to be particularly powerful. The other good thing about this that it has four USB 2.0 ports rather than the usual two, so you can easily share more than the usual keyboard and mouse. It probably needs saying that using a spare port to share a USB memory stick or other disc drive is an extremely bad idea: you're almost certain to end up losing data as the two computers disagree as to what is safe to write where on it. Given that that you're not going to be hanging any sort of disc drive off this, USB 2.0 is very probably fast enough for you, and having those two extra ports to share a scanner or keypad or.. is very useful. Some more expensive KVMs persuade the 'other' computer that it still has its keyboard etc attached during the time it's been switched away from. This doesn't seem to do that, but it tends to be only a few devices where it matters. Some come with a bunch of cables. This just has the USB power cable mentioned; a button on a lead that enables you to switch between the two computers a metre or so away from the KVM box; and two USB A - USB B cables. You'll have to supply the HDMI cables yourself, but you almost certainly have one for each computer already and very probably a spare one or two.I can see at least one person has had issues with a '4K' screen. I wouldn't know: it'll be a long time before I have a screen with more resolution than I can see.

UPDATE: After six months of use, the USB ports have now failed. There is no power to any of them. I've tried different computers, different cables, they are just dead. The manufacturer offers only a 60 day return window, so now, I no longer have a KVM switch, all I have is a monitor switch. As a result, I cannot use my keyboard/mouse across two computers as I previously could. Unfortunately, this means that I cannot recommend this unit. Devices should last longer than six months. Here is my original review:This unit is now used by me every single day. I need to use both Mac and PC and this little device has allowed me to ditch a surplus screen, keyboard and mouse and share the one I wish to use between my two computers. It includes almost everything you need; the unit comes with two USB cables (to attach to your two computers), a USB cable for power (if needed, I didn't need it to use my keyboard, mouse and tablet) and an external button that can be placed conveniently on your desk to switch between computers easily. The only thing that I had to find was an extra HDMI cable. The setup was straightforward, although I did have a minor issue at first getting an image from the Mac to the display, but that was resolved by swapping out the HDMI cable, so this unit wasn't at fault.I can now switch easily between my Mac/PC without needing to move my chair about, still using the same keyboard and mouse in seconds. Both computers can be powered on and still perform tasks, I've seen no issues. Both machines now operate at the quoted 4K resolution and at 60Hz with no flickering or display issues. Genuinely impressed, and it's saved me a ton of desk space not having to have two sets of everything.Positives:Aluminium case that is well constructedSwitching is simpleExternal switch means the main unit can be hidden awayIt saved me a lot of space using one keyboard, mouse, tablet and screen between two computers4K working on PC and Mac with zero issues (I've used this every day for two weeks)Negatives (well, minor considerations):You will need an additional HDMI cableUSB 2.0 only - this isn't an issue for most devices, but if you need USB 3.0 speeds for data transfer, it may not suit youOverall, a solid unit that was simple to set up and works flawlessly for me. I wish I'd got one sooner!
