I have quite a few ear flap flat caps. I really appreciate them in the winter. I bought this one for cold and rainy days, as I like the Walker & Hawkes waxed cap without ear flaps that I use in the summer. I like the fit of this one even better and can't wait to try it with the ear flaps up this summer to see if it is a year round hat.

The tin cloth is the real deal. Good fit, nice looking. Ear flaps are fleece with tin cloth on the outside, but no insulation in the top. Not really a winter hat. It’s good for the shoulder seasons and soggy days. Made for the weather in the Isles.

This is just what I was looking for for walking the dog, it keeps my head warm and dry and if it is cold and windy or the rain is coming down hard you can pull the flap down and protect the back of your neck and keep your ears warm. Comfortable fit and there is room enough under the inside of the peak to keep a couple of doggie poo bags. The peak also keeps the sun out of my eyes. A good piece of kit.

I usually take a 59 or 60 and ordered size L in brown. Perfect fit with ear flaps tucked in. Looser when flaps over ears but still OK. Very practical and cheap hat for winter. Goes perfectly with my Barbour jacket. It looks quite posh and keeps my head and ears warm.
