This was a beautiful read, albeit a dark subject. Very well told, engaging and moving.

Die “Ausschwitz Reihe” gefällt mir immer wieder, ich finde es gut, dass Cilkas Story noch einmal aufgegriffen wurde. Ich hatte mich nach dem Ende von “the tattooist of Ausschwitz” gefragt wie es mit ihr weiter geht, dass sie jetzt so eine, den Umständen entsprechend, schöne Geschichte erhalten hat freut mich.An der Geschichte gibt es für mich nichts zu bemängeln, es war leicht verständlich, ich habe mit mehr Verständnisproblemen gerechnet, da ich das Buch auf Englisch gelesen habe. Der Schreibstil war wunderbar, auch jede Figur war einzigartig und gut ausgearbeitet. Ich finde die Umstände und damaligen Verhältnisse wurden gut dargestellt, es hat mich manchmal zu Tränen gerührt. Aber manchmal empfand ich die Darstellung alles sehr lasch, dafür das ein Konzentrationslager ein sehr schlimmer Ort ist.Für mich ist Cilka eine Heldin, sie setzt sich für die Schwächeren ein, stellt sich selbst zurück undhilft immer dort wo sie es kann.

Even though most of the book is fiction, a lot is based on experiences of witnesses and documents reporting many similar cases.

I just finished reading the Tattooist of Austwich and I could not wait to get this amazing book where the history of Cilka continues in a Siberian Gulag. I loved the book and I was completely hooked to the history of the characters.

Ich habe dieses Buch meinem Stiefvater zum Geburtstag geschenkt und er fand es interessant, so wie den ersten Teil.

This is the follow-up novel to "The Tattooist of Auschwitz". From my point of view, it is even better and more profoundly written than the first part. It certainly addresses the same questions, how far can I go in terrible times to save my own life. I certainly can't answer this question after reading it, and even after reading this book I ask myself who is writing the books for the thousands of dead who did not collaborate. Who knows their names? But who am I to judge? This book is exciting and compassionately written. The author takes us on a journey to distant Siberia and to the Vorkuta prison camp within the Arctic Circle. People who, like our "heroine" Cilka, have survived something like this deserve deep respect from us. I can definitely recommend the book. Anyone who feels strong enough to deal with these times in a novel cannot make a mistake with reading this book.

Ein unfassbar gutes Buch. Schön geschrieben und es bleibt bis zum Ende spannend.Dennoch sollten erwähnt werden, dass sehr vieles in diesem Buch nicht wirklich so passiert ist. Es sollen wohl laut eines Berichts vom Auschwitz Memorial Research Centre eine Vielzahl an Fehlern geben.

Heartbreaking story and history that must never be repeated. Dreadful how humans were treated by others :-(!!! Although the subject of her story is terrible the authoress has managed to write a page-turning book. Just like she did in 'The tattooist of Ausschwitz' Well done!

After finishing the first book I was quite stok to read this one. With compelling story, capture every moment brilliantly wheather sad or happy. It's truly a tale that everyone should need to know about. I personally like this one better than the original. Though it sometime heart-wrenching read but also one of the most inspiring book I ever read.4.9/5
