I read and average of one to two books a week - sometimes reading into the small hours of the morning. Bella Mackie has written a classic not-able-to-put-downer, as just when you think you hand a handle on what is happening, there is a twist and a swerve into something else.She is a great writer and I am about to start on the next story What a Way to Go and am looking forward to it. There is a great deal of authenticity in her writing, only possible if one has faced and surmounted challenges of one own. Highly recommended.

Der Thriller macht wirklich Spaß, nette Hauptfigur, lustige Einfälle. Der Schluss ist leider einfallslos, dauert aber auch nicht lange. Deshalb trotzdem Leseempfehlung.

WHAT.DID.I.JUST.READ?Pros: I absolutely adore Mackie's character development as a whole, but especially the MC, Grace. I love her raw, to-the-point, analytical, detached demeanor.I love how original the plot is, how despite being intricate, it's still easy to follow, and just how creative executing six murders can really become. Well... "Six murders". Both the number and acts themselves are debatable. Read it and you'll see for yourself.I also love how the "fourth wall" is broken at times. Overall, Mackie knows how to WRITE.Cons: I always do a pros/cons format, but it's rare for me not to find any cons to speak of. I'd say if you're not a fan of dark and twisty, this might not be a book for you, but then the title itself should tell you as much, so this isn't really a con at all.Conclusion: if you're sick of the standard murder stories, read this. If you're hankering for an original MC and plot, your chances of liking this are high!P.S.: I never buy before I read, but after reading 4 chapters from the library, I ordered this book. Absolutely no regrets and am very pleased to have it in my personal library!

This book was a surprise for me.I saw my friend reading it in summer, and I thought the title was funny.The cover is intriguing.Let's put it on my TBR list..It's an unusual story with interesting topic and sarcastic humor.The main character is a woman who could be my friend.I mean her hilarious character, not all her murders :-)).I enjoyed the book, but I have to be honest.The beginning of the book was fast-paced and extremely gripping.What happened after about half of the book is that it just took too much time for descriptions and repetitions..What comes out in the end is so abstract, I would never have guessed it in my life because it simply sounded as unlikely as impossible..The main character seemed to be very clever, calculated, and has fully planned every one of her kills, but it turned out, she only thought or told us how clever she was..Perhaps the real point of this book is that we are not as clever and smart as we think we are and not as wonderful and thoughtful as we see ourselves as we are in reality ;-).I can't tell you anything else without spoiling the story, but it's definitely an intriguing and entertaining story for all thriller fans..I definitely had a lot of fun throughout the entire book.

Das Buch lässt sich recht schnell und gut lesen. Die Geschichte baut sich langsam auf und man bekommt genügend Infos, was wie wo passiert (ist). Manchmal war es etwas langatmig, aber im Großen und Ganzen spannend genug um weiterlesen zu wollen. Daher durchaus empfehlenswert, wenn man auf düstere Stories steht.ABER - Achtung Spoiler -Das Ende finde ich absolut null passend zur ganzen Geschichte! Natürlich soll es irgendwo 'Ironie des Schicksals' sein, dennoch kommt es mir vor wie - sorry - hingerotzt, um noch mal eine überraschende Wendung zu bringen. Grace setzt alles daran, ihr Ziel in die Tat umzusetzen, plant solide, handelt nicht unbedacht. Am Ende wird ihr einfach alles genommen von einer Person, von der bis zu den allerletzten Seiten nicht einmal die Rede war. Hätte sie von der Beziehung von Simon und Harry wirklich absolut nichts mitbekommen, obwohl sie sonst immer top informiert war?Fazit: eigentlich lesenswert, aber das Ende ist sehr enttäuschend bzw. hat mich auch richtig wütend gemacht. :D
