I guess I could say that I have a specific recipe when it comes to aquariums. I've had fish aquariums over the years and found my best appoach is with soil and sand and a huge plant accompaniment to deal with the bio load. And in these situations I've done minimal partial water changes and had a foam filter because I've just always had a filter in, and my mind thinks it is good for 'big bits'. That's as technical as the explanations get here. And I've never had any issues, no sick fish, no maintenance, mostly no intervention. Oh, I also generally 'size up' when it comes to filters.I'd say so far so good with this. The quality looks good, the build what I'd expect and I think the impeller will last an appropriate length of time running 24/7.

Very powerful but low quality tank filter.This as a fish tank filter is powerful however the provided media may as well not be present, through each of the sections there is a hole right the way through the sponge to the bottom of the first section, then these is another section that clips on the bottom with another spunge that has a hole cut out to the bottom, so 1 i do not see this being an effective filter, each container has a plastic base with filter lines through the plastic so do not see the bottom one getting much access to pumped up water as the top one is not what you would call restricted. this should have been a 1 piece container with a filter in it, clipping on more containers will not work. 2 the filter media is all but useless and will not filter anything other than posible fish food out of the water.Even more alarming was the amount of oil in the impeller and on the seals, now i hope this contamination is safe for fish, you would not want to be putting this directly in a tank, so you are best to properly clean this and let it sit in a container of water running for a fair few hours.For me the design of the containers being added on & the poor provided filter media makes this a bad choice and as such a 3 star product, you will be spending more money on media for sure.
