Trying to find the right time to sand or just cut wood in general after a recent storm can be a pain. This meter lets me know when the wood is dry enough to work on. Easy to use and cost effective.

Die Bedienungsanleitung ist leider nur auf Englisch. Verkäufer setzt wohl Englischkentnisse voraus.

The meter seems reasonably well-built for its asking price. However, I found it difficult to use this with any confidence that the reading was correct. The first readings I took seemed off compared to my pin meter, so I performed the calibration process. After doing that, the readings were about the same as what the pin meter said. But the next day I tried measuring the same piece of wood and was getting a much lower reading. Again I performed calibration and it seemed to return to the right reading. However, it makes me wonder if I can trust the meter on any given day without running the calibration. The calibration is a bit of a pain, so would not want to do that every time I use it.The other thing that makes it difficult to use is that the wood density needs to be set to one of several values. But the values are only shown on a chart in the included manual, so I have to make sure I don't loose that. In addition, the density is set by repeatedly pushing a button to cycle through the values. Since there are ten of them, it may require that many presses to get to a lower value (such as you need to change from 2 to 1).

After reading the instruction manual, the meter is easy to use. To use it and understand the reading, you need to know the density of the wood you are measuring. The meter has 10 density settings (0-9). The manual includes a wood density table for 48 types of wood and a formula to use for wood, not in the table. There are also wood-density tables on the internet that can be used. Most tables I found were based on kg/m3 and the manual uses g/cm3. It is an easy conversion though. Just divide by 1000 by moving the decimal 3 places to the left. For example, I looked up pecan wood (not in the manual) with a wood density of 770 kg/m3 which equals .77 g/cm3. According to the table in the manual, you will set the meter to Density “6” for pecan wood. For accuracy, I did test this pinless meter against my pin meter on some cottonwood (.40 g/cm3, density setting “1” on the meter). The results were within 1% of each other, with 6.6% moisture on the pinless meter and 7.2% moisture on the pin meter. I’m confident this meter is accurate enough and can be calibrated as needed in the future. This is a nice meter and I prefer it to poking holes in wood to measure the moisture content.

I like tools. Not too long ago, we were trying to find leaks in the ceiling. My father used a moisture meter for drywall, and it was very accurate. I don't know if the percentage reading was accurate, but it located the damp spots that felt dry to the touch but were known leak areas.This meter is for wood, which I understand is different from a drywall meter. I tried it on different wood around my place, and it matched with my knowledge of the wood's exposure to moisture. What this means is that by observing the readings on different woods and how that wood behaves when cut or otherwise worked at different moisture readings, I will, over time, be able to use this meter to optimize the moisture content.So far, I haven't found any wood with more than 27% moisture. I wondered if it really can read up to the 80% range. I dampened a paper towel, and it hit 84% and then "OL" (overload). I guess it can.I'm not an expert with moisture meters. This is my first. But from everything I can see, there are no problems, and I'm glad to have it.

Die Messergebnisse wandern rauf und Die Bedienungsanleitung ist eine Zumutung, auch wenn man der englischen Sprache mächtig ist. Sorry, Unbrauchbar!

Habe es zum messen in Wohnwagen benutzt um Undichtigkeiten zu finden ohne das ich die Inneneinrichtung beschädigen muss wie es bei anderen Geräten mit Spitzen der Fall ist.War überrascht wie gut dieses Gerät Feuchtigkeit nur durch auflegen anzeigt.Die Genauigkeit variiert so um 5% zu teureren Geräten. aber das ist in diesem Fall kein KO Grund, da bei einer Undichtigkeit der Wert sowieso weit über 50% liegt.
