Das VILTROX 40mm f/2.5 Objektiv ist eine hervorragende Wahl für alle, die ein kompaktes, leichtes Objektiv für ihre Sony E-Mount-Kamera suchen. Mit nur 167 g ist es perfekt für unterwegs, ohne dass man auf Bildqualität verzichten muss. Die 40mm Brennweite eignet sich hervorragend für alltägliche Fotografie und bietet eine schöne Perspektive mit einem Blickwinkel von 56,7°, ideal für Porträts, Straßen- oder Reisefotografie.Die große Blende von f/2.5 sorgt für ein schönes Bokeh und hebt Motive wunderbar vom Hintergrund ab. Der Autofokus ist schnell und leise, sodass man präzise Aufnahmen auch in Momenten machen kann, die es erfordern. Ich halte mich hier mit meiner Bewertung des Objektivs einmal ganz kurz.Ich nutze das Objektiv an meiner SONY Alpha a7II hier habe ich recht schnell feststellen müssen, das Objekt bei Gegenlicht absolute Probleme im AF.Beim Herumexperimentieren mit diversen Lichtquellen im Keller war ich aber dennoch recht zufrieden was die Bokehs anging. Was leider nicht wirklich stimmig ist, ist die Verarbeitung.Das Objektiv fühlt sich absolut wertig und qualitativ hochwertig an, was ich bei Objektiven von VILTROX auch so gewohnt bin kenne.Das mounten an meiner SONY ging schnell und passgenau. Wer das Objektiv primär ohne allzu starkes Gegenlicht nutzen möchte, kann sich hiermit sehr gut stellen, zudem bietet es ein wriklich ansprechendes Bokeh .Für meine Einstzwecke gut und daher auch eine Empfehlung!

There are limited options for 40 mm prime lenses in the Sony FE full frame ecosystem and they all cost 3x more than this new Viltrox 40mm/2.5. 40 mm is not as popular as 50 mm, which explains the limited third party but if you need this particular focal lens in a prime then the Viltrox is a great option. It is lighter, cheaper and to me it has about 95% of the same image quality as a Sony lens. AF works just as good in both stills and video with my Sony A7RV. What you are missing on by buying the Viltrox over the sony is the weatherproofing seals, aperture ring, and hard buttons for AF or customization. The viltrox is as minimal as it comes, the zoom ring and an USB C for updates is all you get. But again, at one third of the price, this lens offers outstanding value with virtually no image or AF performance compromise.

Pros:- Solid build quality, especially when you consider the price- Small size, makes this perfect for travel photography- reasonably bright aperture considering the size and the fact that this is a full frame lens- USB-C port built in for firmware updates- Excellent, quiet autofocus with the STM motor- Decent bokeh considering the price and sizeCons:- None reallyOverall:I’ve been really impressed with Viltrox’s lens line up. They’ve done an incredible job packing both performance and value into their lenses, offering a wide range of price points for users not only in the APS-C space but in the full frame lens space as well. This small 40mm lens is compact and great to bring around. I’ve paired it with my Sony A7C II and couldn’t be happier. It offers solid image quality with a surprisingly bright aperture considering the size and price. The 40mm focal length paired with the reasonably bright F2.5 aperture allows for some fairly decent bokeh. I’m surprised they were able to pack in an STM focussing system in this for the price. It performs great and offers consistent and accurate auto focus. Overall this is a superb option if you’re wanting a compact travel lens or just want something that’s high quality and well priced. 100% would recommend.

I got this to use as a lightweight, general purpose lens. At F/2.5, It’s only slightly brighter than my F/2.8 kit lens that covers 24-70mm, but I didn’t have a compact prime in that range for my Sony A7RIV.The lens body is light and pretty short even with the hood out. The barrel is plastic, but the mounting plate is metal. It doesn’t have a focus mode selector switch like some higher end lenses, but it’s easy enough to toggle via the camera UI.Surprisingly, what it does have is a USB-C port on the mounting plate for direct firmware updates. Many of my high-end lenses don’t even have that.As for the photos, I’ve only taken a handful of test shots so far. They look crisp in the focal areas and the depth-of-field transitions are nice and smooth when shooting wide open. Note that the ones I uploaded were not post-processed (they are just the camera-created JPGs).For the price point, I’m really impressed.

Viltrox 40mm F2.5 E-Mount Lens.Bodies Tested on:Sony A6400Sony A7ivThe lens came brand-new with the hood and cleaning cloth. Verifying the firmware version was simple and quick. (It came with the latest firmware installed)Use:Snaps on like any other lens.Weight:This lens is a lot lighter in comparison to many of the other lens I am used to working with.Quality:The lens itself is small, lightweight. I did not test weather-sealing capabilities. It does a little focus breathing and there is a small delay in autofocus, but for portraits this shouldn't rarely be an issue. The images themselves were surprisingly decent for being a lens at this price point. Chromatic Abberation is noticeable in my tests, but only when pixel peeping. There is some shadowing around the outside at f2.5, but is also easily corrected in lightroom for distortion.Overall:I could see this lens being a part of a starter photographer that does indoor or family photoshoots. On a crop sensor, the 40mm becomes equivalent to around 60mm.At such a bargain price point, I would recommend it even for seasoned photographers that is wanting a cheap prime between their 35 and 50mm lens. At around $170 USD I would keep this as a five-star review, if it was more expensive, I would drop that rating and recommend looking at other options with a wider aperture.
